Steam conversion valves
 
Transformer in angle and globe type are steam conversion valves for pressure reduction of the hot steam with simultaneous cooling.

Transformer / globe Type

Design characteristics:
The reduction of the steam pressure is realised by the principle of a hole plug with hole bushes. A rough control of the injected water is realised through the stroke of the control plug. According to the amount of load through the valve seat, the water nozzles will be opened along the water control curve in the lance -Figure A. The temperature control is realised through the water injection valves.

BOMAFA hole bush system realises sub critical pressure reduction from 0-100% capacities for all stages. This is achieved due to the stress-relieving hole bushes being split into separate chambers, so that the medium can only admit the stress-relieving chamber that is intended for it (Figure A). These chambers inside the stress-relieving hole bushes are formed by the bushes having frames, thus preventing the medium from admitting the entirely free cross section of the stress-relieving hole bush. The sub critical pressure reduction is an important quality aspect, which gives BOMAFA a competitive edge in providing truly customised valve solutions.
     
     
Transformer / Angle type:

The control characteristic of the hole spindle is that it has a multitude of the different borings.

BOMAFA design engineers offer Transformers where the valve has a high operation time and
the water pressure for injection in the valve seat is at least 20 bar above the first pressure reduction. The temperature difference between the water and the cooling medium should be at an acceptable level.

BOMAFA design characteristic:
- Via the stroke of the control plug, controlled water injection is guaranteed by design through the exchangeable valve seat. Therefore, the high water velocity remains constant for all required capacity cases - Figure B. 
- Round valve bodies to prevent material accumulations. 
- Maintenance friendly design. Easy access to valve internals. 
Transformer are favourable solutions, when the end user can provide a high ( 20bar above the first pressure reduction stage) water pressure and a relatively high water temperature.
