As to this steam conversion valve, the reduction of steam pressure and the steam cooling are separately arranged. The pressure reduction is affected via several stress-relieving stages. The design guarantees sub critical pressure reduction for the complete load range. This is achieved due to the stress-relieving whole bushes being split into separate chambers, so that the medium can only admit the stress-relieving chamber that is intended for it (Figure C).
The chambers inside the stress-relieving bushes are formed by bushes having frames, thus preventing the medium from admitting the entirely free cross section of the stress-relieving hole
bush.
By design the swelling steam reaches the desuperheater before the steam is completely
reduced to the required outlet pressure (Figure C). So it can be guaranteed that at all times
swelling steam is available to ensure water atomisation.
